For ten years, since 1996, we have acted like a link for the people living in the Stockholm archipelago. This situation occurs during wintertime when ice that covers the sea prevents any transportation by boat to the mainland.
About 230 individuals rely on this service to be able to visit the closest municipal center for common service. For example visiting the post office, the bank, the dentist or doctor, the pharmacy, or to buy victuals etc.
The operation is usually launched in the middle of January and continues until the brake-up of the ice, sometimes in April. When the winters are extremely cold the flying scheme starts around Christmas and ends around the first of May. Approx 70 islands/destinations are covered in the operation. Pick-up flights in the morning for the mainland and pick-up flights in the afternoon for the archipelago. Throughout the years very few flights have had to be cancelled due to bad weather such as heavy fog or snowstorms. The reliable service is highly appreciated among the inhabitants in the archipelago.
